Ayurveda - Its Principles and Philosophies
17. Ayurveda is the traditional medical system of India, dating back over five thousand years. It is a complete science that acknowledges a holistic approach to medicine. Equally important roles of mind, body, and spirit are addressed in achieving good health. Ayurveda is not only a system of medicine, rather, it teaches how to remain fit and disease free by simply following a daily routine using wholesome foods. It considers many factors including seasonal changes to lifestyle and diet.
Ayurveda looks beyond the symptoms and focuses on the root cause.
"Ayus" means "Life", "Ved" means system of "knowledge"i.e.
Knowledge of Life or Science of Life.
